About Dr. Cherry

Rebecca Cherry, MD, FAAP, is certified in Pediatric Gastroenterology by the American Board of Pediatrics. She is a Fellow of the American Academy of Pediatrics and the American Society of Clinical Hypnosis (ASCH). She has been using clinical hypnosis since 2011, along with standard medical treatments.

Dr. Cherry was graduated from Harvard College with an undergraduate degree in History and Science (1995). She earned her MD degree from Harvard Medical School (2000). She completed residency training in Pediatrics at Vanderbilt Children's Hospital in Nashville, Tennessee (2005), and fellowship training in Pediatric Gastroenterology at Children's Hospital Los Angeles/University of Southern California (2009). She has received training in hypnosis from ASCH and from the National Pediatric Hypnosis Training Institute (NPHTI). Dr. Cherry's medical training was enhanced by the arrival of her 3 beautiful children. She and her husband have been married for 20 years and live in Solana Beach.

Dr. Cherry has used clinical hypnosis with children and adolescents since 2011. She has specialized in using hypnosis for gastrointestinal symptoms including nausea, abdominal pain, and swallowing difficulties, which often arise as the result of anxiety. She sees patients for general GI care at her private practice, Pediatric Specialty Partners. Prior to her work with Center Point Medicine and Pediatric Specialty Partners, Dr. Cherry served as Assistant Clinical Professor of Pediatrics at UC San Diego/Rady Children's Hospital. At UCSD/Rady, she was the Director of Inflammatory Bowel Disease Program and a leader in Quality Improvement initiatives. Dr. Cherry has published papers and book chapters on topics including infant feeding, growth faltering (slow weight gain), and pancreatitis.
